    Our club comprised of freshwater and saltwater flyrodders from Connecticut , Rhode Island, Massachusetts, New York and other points around the USA. Many of CT/RI's die-hard striper anglers ply the waters from the Western end of Long Island Sound to Boston Harbor and points north.                 

   The club's interests encompass all aspects of fly fishing in the area, including government regulations and conservation efforts.

    Annual activities include a Summer Picnic featuring some of the biggest names in the saltwater fly fishing industry, a tournament or two throughout the season, monthly gatherings and excursions  as well as activities for young flyrodders.

CT/RI Coastal Fly Fishers Mission Statement:

To promote salt water fly fishing, and to conserve, protect and restore coastal fisheries and their habitats.

 
Meetings

  The club meets once a month on the last Thursday of the month from September through June at the Groton Elk's Club on Shennecossett Rd.   The Elks club is near the Bayberry Lane public boat launch and Shennecossett golf course.

Stay STRAIGHT to go onto BRANDEGEE AVE. 0.5 miles,

BRANDEGEE AVE becomes SHENNECOSSETT RD.,

Follow past Shennecossett Golf Course to ELKS CLUB on left at 700 SHENNECOSSETT RD.

Membership

The Club is open to all individuals. There is an annual membership fee of $25.   All membership dues will be paid on or before September 1st. Membership will be terminated to any member whose dues are not paid within 60 days.

Committees

Membership Committee is primarily responsibility for the recruitment of new members and retention of current members. The committee will develop plans and make recommendations to the Board to accomplish the preceding. They will then implement the plans and activities approved by the Board. The Committee will also maintain the current and past membership list. This is comprised of 4 members.

Rick Davidson - Chairman

Newsletter Committee is responsible for development of proposed newsletter format, structure and content, frequency of publication, distribution methods, and commercial advertisements as well as responsibility for monthly production of the newsletter. This committee is comprised of 6 members.

Greg Dunn - Chairman

Finance/Audit Committee will provide oversight of all club financial matters, bank accounts and financial procedures. This committee is comprised of 3 members.

Chuck Savage - Chairman

Monthly Meeting Program Committee will be responsible for planning and organizing the entertainment portion of our monthly meetings. This will include obtaining fly tiers, speakers, raffles and any other activity that may be of interest and beneficial to club members. The Committee is comprised of 6 club members.

Steve Currier - Chairman

Web Page Committee will develop and maintain the club webpage. The committee will also make recommendations to the Board regarding webpage content, links advertising, etc. This committee is comprised of 3 members.

John Crowe - Chairman

Outing Committee will develop an annual program of outings for club members and interested parties. In additional to planning events, the committee will organize, implement and conduct these events. This committee is comprised of 4 members:

Winter Show Committee will be responsible for developing an annual plan for show participation by the club. The committee will also organize and facilitate each show to include obtaining and scheduling participants, making arrangements with show promoters and, obtaining equipment and materials, setting up and breaking down the shows. This committee is  comprised of 4 members.

AJ. Hocking - Chairman.

Conservation/Government Liaison Committee will monitor the conservation and management of species of interest including stock status, regulations (seasons, bag/trip limits, gear restrictions) and keep the club informed. Committee members will also represent the club at government hearings and management meetings and serve as liaison between the club and the various government fisheries management agencies. This committee is comprised of 3 members.

Special Event Committee will be responsible for planning, organizing, implementing and conducting the Summer Picnic and Holiday party. This will entail all activities associated with these events including entertainment and raffles. This committee is comprised of 6 Members. There will also be one common member between this committee and the Monthly Program Committee.

Planning Committee will develop proposed long range strategic and operational plans (short term plans) for the club. These plans will form the basis and structure for club policies and provide a framework for decision making. They will develop proposed club vision and mission statements, long range goals and objectives and strategies for achieving these goals and objectives. These will be the basis for short term operational plans (1 to 3 years) with specific goals and objectives, strategies and time frames for achievement. This committee is comprised of 6 members.
